Author's Summary:  To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide for certain protections for aliens granted temporary protected status or deferred enforced departure, and for other purposes.

IB Summary:  According to the American Immigration Lawyers Association: "On 11/3/17, Representative Nydia Velázquez (D-NY) introduced the American Promise Act of 2017 (H.R. 4253) to provide individuals who currently receive TPS (Temporary Protected Status) and DED (Deferred Enforced Departure), and have resided in the U.S. under these programs for a period of three years, the ability to apply for lawful permanent residence."
