H.R.4082: Protect Access to Birth Control Act

Author's Summary:  To repeal the rules issued by the Department of the Treasury, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Health and Human Services entitled “Religious Exemptions and Accommodations for Coverage of Certain Preventive Services Under the Affordable Care Act” and “Moral Exemptions and Accommodations for Coverage of Certain Preventive Services Under the Affordable Care Act”.

IB Summary:  According to US Rep Judy Chu (CA, D): "The two Interim Final Rules issued this month allow nearly any employer to be exempt from the requirement to cover birth control and other forms of contraception without cost-sharing. The Protect Access to Birth Control Act will treat these policies as though they had never taken effect, thereby securing the right to birth control coverage as guaranteed by the Affordable Care Act."

Status: Introduced on 10/19/2017.  Referred to the Committee on Energy and commerce, and in addition to the Committees on Ways and Means and Education and the Workforce, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned
